In my childhood, I heard stories about shopkeepers ripping off tourists with exorbitant prices; now they rip us, the locals, off even more severely. I should also mention that international companies are no better; despite our low income levels, the world's most expensive cars, houses, and appliances are sold in our country; and despite slow internet speeds and access restrictions on tens of thousands of websites, surfing the internet has become astronomically expensive.
